It appears that Selling Sunset’s most beloved bachelor Jason Oppenheim will continue to enjoy the unmarried life, as he and his now ex-girlfriend Marie-Lou Nurk have officially called it quits. As per Page Six, Oppenheim took to social media on May 31 to announce his split from Nurk, who he had been dating for 10 months. “While we still love and care about each other very much the distance between us has proven to be too great a challenge to overcome,” he wrote in an Instagram Story, adding: “We remain close friends and continue to talk often and support each other and we want the very best for one another. We thank everyone for their support throughout our relationship.”

Their break up comes after Oppenheim and Nurklater were forced to clarify earlier in May that they are not married when speculation they had tied the knot popped up in response to a confusing series of Instagram snaps. Their followers immediately thought there had been a wedding — and understandably so. The loved-up images feature her in a white feathered minidress and him in a black suit with a white shirt. On top of that, Nurk’s caption initially read, “Here’s to a lifetime of adventures.”

It didn’t take long for the duo to realize people had gotten the wrong idea. They changed the caption to a less future-oriented one: “You always make me smile.” Offering more clarity, Oppenheim commented on the post, “Clearly these photos are confusing people. Sorry about that. We did not get married. These are from an event that we went to together a few weeks ago.”

Before his relationship with Nurk, the internet was in a tizzy after Oppenheim and his Selling Sunset co-star Chrishell Stause made their relationship Instagram official in July 2021 before eventually breaking up in December of the same year. Aside from his year-long relationship with co-star Mary Fitzgerald, the Oppenheim Group boss had been notorious for being a bachelor. Meanwhile, fan-favorite Stause had her divorce from This Is Us actor Justin Hartley play out in Season 3. Following the Selling Sunset pair’s split, Stause started dating musician G-Flip, with Oppenheim remaining single until meeting Nurk.

Oppenheim made his red carpet debut with the model in August 2022, confirming their rumored relationship and making things official. Stepping out together to attend the premiere of Netflix’s Day Shift, the pair looked smitten and even hinted that she could make an appearance in future seasons of Selling Sunset. “I hope so,” he told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “We’re talking about it.” She added: “Yes, like a little scene.”

The couple was first spotted together in July 2022 in Mykonos, Greece, where they were glimpsed sharing a kiss outside the Nammos Village shopping center. The real estate broker also made a brief appearance on the model’s Instagram story during the trip, as they posed together on the roof of a luxury house. At the time, a source told Entertainment Tonight that the new couple was indeed an item, but “trying to keep things private. [Oppenheim] is happy and doing well.”

Nurk did eventually appear on Selling Sunset, and Oppenheim and Stause opted to remain “best friends” post-breakup, though there was healing to do. Stause is now married to G-Flip, and she confirmed their relationship during the televised Selling Sunset Season 5 reunion back in May 2022. In the same show, Oppenheim opened up about his lingering feelings for Stause as they shared an emotional talk.

It wasn’t the first time he discussed his struggles post-split. In an interview with Us Weekly on April 21, 2022, he said of his ex: “I love her still. I always will. She’s a great woman so there’s just a lot of loss there.” He also shared how hard the moving-on process was. “It’s far more difficult than I thought and it’s gonna take a lot longer than I thought,” he told the outlet.

“Chrishell has influenced me, shown me happiness, love, and what it’s like to be with someone that you have so much respect for.”

Throughout Season 5, other agents referred to Stause as Oppenheim’s “game-changer,” having turned a proud bachelor into someone who was even considering having kids. Oppenheim agreed with the label in his Us Weekly interview. Calling her a “game-changer” and “eye-opener,” he said: “She definitely showed me a lot of things about how a relationship should be.”

“Chrishell has influenced me, shown me happiness, love, and what it’s like to be with someone that you have so much respect for. If there was really anything that was truly exceptional about our relationship, it was the calm, the communication, and just the ease.”
