You learn something every day, as Heinz's marketing team discovered after they temporarily rebranded one of their biggest products to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.

Heinz, the "57 variety" company famous for its baked beans and sauces, has released promotional bottles of two sauces to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne. It's HP Sauce and Salad Cream are getting the royal treatment.

HP sauce has been renamed HM (Her Majesty's) Sauce for the celebrations, while Salad Cream has been rebranded to Salad Queen. But Heinz did not realise the term 'Salad Queen' already has an X-rated meaning across the pond in the USA.

Heinz was alerted to the alternative definition by a sex-positive Twitter account that focuses on the history of human sexuality.

With a picture of a bottle of Heinz "Salad Queen", they asked: "I know it's for the Queen's jubilee, but do you suppose that @HeinzUK know that in the US “Salad Queen” is gay slang for a man who enjoys a spot of anilingus?"

They then posted a screenshot of the term Salad Queen from Green's Dictionary of Slang, the world's largest collection of English language slang terms.

Green's confirms Salad Queen is a recorded slang term from the USA gay community referring to a "man who enjoys anilingus".

Heinz UK held their hands up, admitting that they were not aware of the American slang term.

"For the record, we did not. But every day is a school day eh," Heinz UK replied to @WhoresofYore.

And, if you don't know what anilingus is, you can Google it. Perhaps not at work, though.
